Finishing Operations
4 Sweco vibratory mills from 3 to 12 cu ft make up the heart of our finishing department. Multiple grades of ceramic media are used for de-burring and also an important part of the surface preparation for powder coat or E-coat. This prep gives the casting an excellent bonding surface for the attachment of the epoxy or polyester powders. For general de-burr and polish organic limestone, corn cob, and walnut shells are good local materials.
Plating and Powder Coating
After surface prep our castings are outsourced to our plating or powder coating sources. We have solid relationships with our coating venders by product line. Each supplier has the ability to do any of the done required, but has the unique abilities that lends to part size, lot size, masking requirements, and material used. We match those elements to the supplier to get the best natural results by matching capabilities. SDC supervises all the outsourcing and handle the responsibility for the material quality and certifications.
